Faith Formation for 2026-2027
Our Grades 1-6 Faith Formation classes take place on Sunday mornings in the Georgetown Church Hall on an alternating schedule.
This year class will be from 9:30 am to 10:25 am. In the fall, the 11 am Family Mass is moving to an earlier start time of 10:30 am. After class, children will go upstairs for Mass at 10:25 am and be seated in the front pews with their class. Families are strongly encouraged to attend the Mass as well!! More details about class and Mass logistics will be shared as we get closer to the beginning of classes.
We hope that this new earlier class and Mass time will be better for families with busy weekend schedules. Classes for Grades 1, 3, and 5 and Grades 2, 4, and 6 will meet on an alternating schedule every other Sunday (excluding holidays and school vacations) beginning on September 21, 2026.
Class is Mass Days
There are 4 “CLASS IS MASS!” Sundays on the Schedule this year. For these days, families (to include children in all grades and at least one parent/caregiver) will come to the 10:30 am Mass instead of having a class in the hall. This will be followed by social time with treats and coffee and/or some of our fun parish events like Cookies with Santa and the Easter Egg Hunt!
This year's Calendar for Grades 1-6 will be published soon.
First Communion Sacrament Preparation (Grades 1 & 2)
Students in Grade 2 will prepare for and celebrate the sacraments of First Reconciliation (in January) and First Communion (in May). Parents of 2nd graders will have a chance to choose their First Communion date/location. First Communion preparation is a two-year process. To receive First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion in 2nd grade, students must be registered and attending class and Mass regularly throughout grades 1 and 2.
About the Program
We will be using the Pflaum Gospel Weeklies program again this year. [https://www.gospelweeklies.com/]. Each lesson is based on the same Gospel proclaimed in church on Sunday creating an instant connection between class and our liturgy each week.
Volunteers Needed
Our program isn’t possible without volunteers. This year our hope is that we will have at least one parent/caregiver volunteer for each grade level. Know another parent that you might want to co-teach with? We love that! Do you have a high school teen looking for community service hours? We love having teens as volunteer teachers! From hall monitors to small group teachers (and helpers), there are many ways to get involved. If you are interested in volunteering in our program in some way please indicate this when you register and complete this form. All materials and training (and a lot of support) are provided! **You will also notice upon registering that we are offering a $50 discount on tuition for parents that volunteer this year. Please complete the form prior to registering and we will give you the discount code to enter on Parish Giving. Please let us know if you have questions about volunteering.
