Job Opening Music Director

Purpose: The Music Ministry provides song for all of our Parish Liturgical celebrations. St. Mary Parish currently has two choirs, cantors and instrumentalists.

Qualifications: A music minster is a person who:

*     Iis a Catholic in good sacramental standing in the Church

*     Is a Catholic mature in faith and of excellent character is growing spiritually through daily prayer and liturgical prayer, especially the Sunday Eucharist, and who accepts the responsibility of ministry in serving the needs of others.

*     Understands that the Mass is a communal prayer and that the music is a liturgical function requiring a sense of dignity and an attitude of prayer expresses a sense of dignity by appropriate Sunday dress, by alert posture, by graceful and correctly timed movement.

*     Meets the Boston Archdiocese requirements of current CORI, VIRTUS – Protecting God’s Children Training, and signed Code of Conduct form on file.

Opportunities: We are blessed to have wonderful choirs at both of our churches.  Cantors lead the music at the Saturday 4:30PM Mass in Georgetown.  The Georgetown Choir provides music at the Sunday 11:00AM Mass.  The Rowley Choir provides music at the Sunday 9:00 AM Mass.

Singers and instrumentalist of all ages are invited to join the choir.

Both Choirs come together in one united voice during Holy Days, 1st Communions, Confirmations, special liturgical programs, and some special non liturgical concerts.
