Finance Council
|

Purpose: The Parish Financial Council is a group of parishioners whose purpose is to assist the pastor in rendering an account of the parish finances to the local ordinary and to the faithful of the parish. They also assist the pastor by providing council concerning the general care and administration of parish property and finances.
Qualifications: A council member is a person who:
* Is a Catholic in good sacramental standing in the Church
* Is a Catholic mature in faith and of excellent character, who show reverence and love for the Eucharist is excited by the changing times of the Church and would like to be a positive influence and guide for our parish.
* Meets the Boston Archdiocese requirements of current CORI, VIRTUS – Protecting God’s Children Training, and signed Code of Conduct form on file.

Meetings are held once a month from September – June of each year. All Finance Council and sub committee meetings are closed to the parish. The bulletin does announce our next meeting time.

It may seem that the Church is always asking for donations. While it is true that without donations the Parish doesn’t have the resources necessary to carry out the mission to “Spread the Gospel” each type of offertory is for individual needs. Many people are confused as to what collection is for what and how are they different from each other. Our hope is that this brief explanation will help as you make your donation choices.

Catholic Relief Services supports emergency relief, human development, and peace initiatives in 99 countries around the world, where nearly half the population lives on less than $2.00 a day. World Mission Sunday |
By Baptism, all Catholics are called to participate in the mission of the Church and share their faith as missionaries. World Mission Sunday gathers support for the pastoral and evangelizing programs and needs of more than 1,150 mission dioceses in Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and remote regions of Latin America. The funds gathered on World Mission Sunday are distributed in the pope’s name by the Society for the Propagation of the Faith—a Pontifical Mission Society. Campaign for Human Development |
The Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD), works to uphold the dignity of human life by breaking the cycle of poverty across the United States through grants to local community-based groups who create jobs, improve education, and strengthen neighborhoods. Twenty-five percent of the CCHD collection stays in the Archdiocese of Boston to fund local anti-poverty projects; seventy-five percent supports national grant and education programs. Special Collection Sunday |
Purpose to be determined each year by the Cardinal Archbishop. For 2012, the collection will go to support the work of Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Boston. This ministry is focused on support of children and families as well as newly arrived immigrants in the Archdiocese. Programs include food pantries, residential care for women and children in poverty, substance abuse counseling and assistance with rent and heating oil. Catholic Charities regularly serves over 175,000 people each year. It is focused on direct personal and social support of those in need. |
